I'm in the process of replacing my these phones after 2 months. When I call the house, I can't hear them. No one can hear me on the phone. I have to cup my hands and yell into the mic for anyone to hear me.
Clarity on phone is terrific. Phones perform very well. Slightly small body is sometimes slippery.Programing format ok, but could be simpler.
Huge mistake.I won't bore you with every detail, so here are my biggest gripes:- Sound quality dropped a bit. Reliability was top notch. it might be time to abandon the brand loyalty. It simply says "Line in Use" when you press a button.- When you attempt to join an active conversation with another handset, it initially says "Line in Use" when you press talk (see above). In fact, my 5.8 hadn't failed, even after 3-4 years of usage. After retiring my ancient 900 MHz single handset cordless several years ago, I moved to a 5.8 GHz 2 handset cordless. However, if the next Panny I buy to replace this one is bad too. I verified it's the model, not a defective phone, because I exchanged it the first time it happened, and it happened on the subsequent phone.- When you answer a call on one handset, all of the other handsets become unusable for anything other than conferencing in with the current call.
Rather than simply picking up an additional handset for a fading technology, I figured I'd just spend a little more and invest in the new DECT 6.0 technology. I've owned Panasonic cordless phones for the past ten or so years. Only LCD is lit.- And my biggest gripe. It just stopped working today, completely out of the blue for no reason, less than a year after purchase.There are a few pros, such as good battery life, AA style rechargeable batteries (so you can swap standard AAA in a pinch), shareable phone book, loud clear speakerphone, and a clear LCD with good dot matrix display and clear useful information.I can't believe this thing is kaput after less than a year of use. everything is unusable.
Caller ID, phone book, settings menu. I realize even the best manufacturers can spit out a lemon or two (or even an entire bad line), so I'm not ready to give up on over a decade of good reliable Panasonic products for one dud. In the meantime, steer clear of this phone. It appears to be the base unit. It sounds more choppy and digital. It just literally stopped working. Both were very clear and the 5.8 even allowed you to simply click talk with the inactive handset to join a conversation on the other handset.
You have to press "Talk" button AGAIN to conference in on the call.- No lighted keypad or buttons. It was almost like talking on a cell phone at times. I just moved into a bigger home and needed more handsets. Sometimes the sound would completely drop briefly for no reason at all.
Otherwise, works well enough and the price was reasonable. Units aren't very secure in their cradles and can fall out easily if bumped. Keypads are not back lit, so hard to use in a darkened room. No plug for external headset.
These phones were very easy to set up and I have been happy with them.
